World Premiere Visual Concerto
Bernstein: West Side Story: Symphonic Dances
Copland: Lincoln Portrait
Dvorak: Symphony No. 8
“Bernstein’s tuneful dances are a fitting opener for this extraordinary concert. You will be awed by two stunning “visual concertos” created by Westwater Arts, featuring a world premiere commission showcasing panoramic photography of our region set to Dvorak’s evocative score. We’ll be joined by multimedia artist Nicholas Bardonnay who will project hundreds of live-cued images on a 440-square-foot wide screen behind the orchestra.”-VPO
"Mahler's Farewell" with New Bedford Symphony Orchestra
“In this uniquely designed concert, [conductor] Yaniv [Dinur] and our musicians will provide you with an ‘Immersive Mahler’ experience. Mahler’s monumental final symphony, the ninth, is the only piece on the program and the first half of the concert will be used by Yaniv to explore and celebrate Mahler’s creative genius as expressed in this work. Yaniv will be your musical guide as the orchestra plays excerpts from the symphony while he explains what Mahler was up to in constructing the piece the way he did. In the second half, the full work will be performed.” -NBSO
